Fashion retailer Bonmarche has reported that it’s seen a good start to its financial year despite like-for-like sales dropping by 0.7% in its first quarter, compared with its previous quarter that saw a drop of 3.3%.
Figures show that in the 13 weeks to June 27 in-store like-for-like sales decreased 1.7%, however the retailer saw its online sales increase by 11.4%, so in total sales rose by 3.8%.
Beth Butterwick, chief executive of Bonmarche said: "We have made a solid start to the new financial year. Our LFL run rate shows an improvement compared to the previous quarter, despite inconsistent spring and early summer weather.
"We continue to make progress with the execution of our strategic initiatives. We are listening to our customers' feedback, based on which, our plans will evolve. At this early stage the board remains confident of achieving its expectations for the year."
