Apple has seen a record third quarter after selling 47.5 million iPhones in the three months to June 27th.

Chief executive Tim Cook said that it was an “amazing” quarter, with profits up 38% and revenue up 33%.

The third quarter, which is usually the slowest for iPhone sales, included a “great start” for the Apple Watch.

Mr Cook has previously said that he does not want to reveal detailed figures for the watch at this stage, which went on sale on 24th April, to avoid giving competitors inside information.
