Diageo has said that it is reviewing its investment plans, including a new “super distillery” next to its Teaninich whisky production unit in Alness, Scotland.

In a financial statement covering the three months to the end of September, Diageo said that falling demand for Scottish whisky across many of its markets meant that the company would “review and adjust the timing of the next phase of our investment programme”.

In 2013, the company said that it would be investing £92 million into its Highland production, including the Teaninich plant which was to create up to 20 jobs.
