Drugs company GlaxoSmithKline has said that it plans to plough £200 million into its UK manufacturing businesses in Ware, Hertfordshire and Worthing, West Sussex.
The work is expected to include the construction of a new site, generating jobs in construction and associated suppliers. GSK has invested in the UK whilst many of its rivals shift manufacturing overseas.
Roger Connor, president of global manufacturing and supply, said that the investment was down to the Government’s “patent box”, a tax relief on profits earned from patented innovations announced last year, according to the Telegraph.
