Due to an increase in passenger numbers, Easyjet has reported a 21.5% rise in annual pre-tax profits. The no-frills airline reported that it has transported 64.8 million passengers which marks a 7% rise.

The airline added that it was seeing increasing passenger loyalty, with 57% of existing customers rebooking each year. "When people sample us, when they try us for the first time, they tend not to go back to legacy airlines," chief executive Carolyn McCall told the BBC.

The airline added that the overall outlook for the year ahead is very positive although competitor Ryanair has stepped up its game in recent months by focusing on improving its customer service.
