One of the world’s largest online travel sites has announced that it will start accepting virtual currency Bitcoin as a form of payment.
Although plagued by a number of recent security concerns and the collapse of some key currency exchanges, Bitcoin is beginning to be accepted by an increasing number of websites as currency.
In a statement, Expedia's global vice-president, Michael Gulmann, said the company was "in a unique position" to "solve travel planning and booking for our customers and partners alike by adopting the latest payment technologies".
