Chinese state media has reported that five people have been arrested in Beijing over a sex tape that was filmed in one of Uniqlo’s stores.

The tape went viral on Chinese social media as it showed the couple in the dressing room of the Beijing store. Not long after the tape went viral the pair were arrested.

According to reports, the clip went viral on Weibo, the Chinese social network, and mobile messaging service WeChat.

Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC), China’s online regulator, said the clip was "against socialist core values" and called upon operators to help.

Part of the investigation is looking into whether the tape was a publicity stunt, and if so then Uniqlo could be fined between 200,000 and 1 million yuan (£21,000-£103,000) and have its licence revoked.

Uniqlo has not responded to the reports.
