Google has begun testing drone deliveries as part of a scheme to revolutionise its delivery service.
The details of Project Wing had been kept under wraps until recently. The plans feature unmanned craft with a wingspan of approximately 1.5 metres. The vehicle is known as a "tail sitter" - since it rests on the ground with its propellers pointed straight up, allowing it to take off and land without a runway.

Dave Voss, incoming leader of Project Wing, commented: "When you have a tool like this you can really allow the operators of those emergency services to add an entirely new dimension to the set of tools and solutions that they can think of.”
