Bakery company Greggs turned a potential PR disaster around yesterday, when a fake and offensive logo appeared next to the company’s Google listing.

The normal logo was replaced with an image pulled from uncyclopedia.wikia.com with the fake slogan “Greggs: providing s*** to scum for over 70 years” which quickly went viral.

However, the company’s social media team handled the situation quickly, responding to Tweets informing them of the mix-up with professionalism and a touch of humour.

Greggs, which has more stores in the UK than McDonald's, tweeted a picture of a tray of donuts to Google UK, saying “Fix it and they’re yours” and suggested that the Google doodle for today might be made out of sausage rolls to make up for the mistake.

Greggs generates £100 million from sausage roll sales annually.
