H&M is working with the water charity Water Aid to help poor communities in Bangladesh by offering to its customers specially designed gift cards.

The H&M Conscious Foundation will make a donation to Water Aid for every €10 added to a gift card. The contribution will go towards helping parts of Bangladesh gain long-term access to clean water, sanitation and good hygiene.

Barbara Frost, Water Aid’s chief executive, said: “I am delighted that this holiday season H&M’s customers will once again be helping Water Aid transform the lives of thousands of the world’s poorest people through safe water, sanitation and hygiene. H&M has supported Water Aid since 2002 and has previously raised over £2.7 million for our water and sanitation projects in Bangladesh, India and Pakistan. Thanks to these donations we have been able to help 180,000 people to take the first steps out of poverty.”

The H&M Conscious Foundation also donated $100,000 to the Red Cross in its bid to support victims of the typhoon “Haiyan” in The Philippines.
