It has been reported that police have raided the headquarters of Toyota Motor and also its office in Tokyo.
The raid comes after Julie Hamp, the newly appointed head of public relations and the highest level female in Toyota’s history was arrested on June 18th on suspicion of smuggling a controlled substance into Japan.
The substance, which was oxycodone, a narcotic pain killer is known to be under tight control in the country.
Toyota president Akio Toyoda commented saying that he doesn’t believe Ms Hamp intended to break the law.
Kyodo News reported that Ms Hamp had explained to the police that the drugs were to help her with pain in her knees.
