American retailer J.Crew is opening a chain of value stores to attract more customers, following in the footsteps of Gap’s Old Navy brand.
J.Crew has struggled with its sales for a number of consecutive quarters and cut 175 jobs and senior positions as the firm came under attack for increased product price, whilst apparently “decreasing quality”.
To entice customers back, J.Crew is opening J.Crew Mercantile, the new value label which will be available at outlet stores and its factory website.
Dallas, Texas will be the first place to have a physical store which is due to open later this month.
