Former creative officer and co-founder of Jimmy Choo, Tamara Mellon, has filed for bankruptcy.
Jimmy Choo and Ms Mellon opened the shoe and accessory chain’s first store in Knightsbridge in 1996, leaving in 2011 after the company was acquired by Swiss company Labelux.
Ms Mellon went on to found her own eponymous label in 2013 but now plans to file for bankruptcy to protect it from its creditors during what court documents have described as a “brief period of reorganization”. The move is expected to give the company access to $12 million from investors.
