Fashion chain Karen Millen is to pitch itself as “affordable luxury” - between luxury and high street - as it gears up for a global expansion program.

Chief executive Mike Shearwood said that the group’s plans include upping the number of outlets from 360 to 400 and launching a new flagship on New York’s Fifth Avenue.

The chain, formerly part of the Aurora group, is currently refurbishing its stores to enhance the luxury element of the products but at affordable prices.

Karen Millen’s clothes are all designed at the company’s head office in Shoreditch.
