The retailer Marks and Spencer has reported that its profits have fallen 3.9% making this year the third consecutive year the high street icon saw its profits falling.
M&S clothing department has been struggling in recent years as sales had fallen, however Marks and Spencer had said it had also now "refreshed" the womenswear departments in its top 70 stores helping its clothing sales to return to growth in the final three months of the year, marking the first time in three years that sales had increased.
Chief executive Marc Bolland said: "We are focused on improving our performance in general merchandise and were pleased to see early signs of improvement.
"Our food business had a very strong year, consistently outperforming the market."
He added: "Three years ago, we recognised the scale of investment required to transform our business, investing to strengthen our foundations and improve our customer offer.
"We are making solid progress on this journey and are now focused on delivery."
