Staff and customers from McColl's Retail Group were congratulated by the Chief Executive and founder of CRY for their money raising activities in the Halloween period to support the CRY campaign.

CRY is a charity dedicated to helping to reduce the number of undiagnosed heart conditions in young people.  In 80% of cases there are no signs or symptoms, which is why CRY now tests over 12,000 young people every year.

Many customers showed their support for the campaign by purchasing the special Halloween magazine for £1 (with 50p going directly to CRY).

McColl's Chairman and CEO, James Lancaster, who lost his son Robert to sudden cardiac death in 2007 aged just 21, has since worked tirelessly with his family to support CRY.

Mr Lancaster who is also a trustee of the charity said, “I am incredibly happy that we have raised such a large amount of money for this great charity. CRY has a special significance for me and seeing such a large amount raised through the hard work of staff and generosity of McColl's customers makes me immensely proud".

The total Halloween product sales increased by 115% compared to last year, reflecting the widespread growth in customer support for the campaign.
