McDonald’s boss Don Thompson who joined the company in 1990 as an electrical engineer is now stepping down as the boss after two and half years in the job. This comes as the McDonald’s customers base reportedly continues to struggle.

Taking over from Mr Thompson in March is British-born Steve Easterbrook who is the current chief brand officer.

Earnings for the fourth quarter were $1.1 billion, down 21% from last year. The company reported that this would be its fifth consecutive decline in sales.

McDonald’s has said that its profits will still be under pressure over the next few months as it plans to bring back customers by changing the menu.
