It has been reported that British Land, the owner of shopping centre Meadowhall in Sheffield has been given the green light for a £50 million makeover to celebrate its 25 years. The makeover will begin in autumn of this year.
Part of the makeover will include different areas, each with a different finish such as punctured metal and wood, as well as other features including mall seating and new way finding.
Head of shopping centre asset management for British Land, Claire Barber said "Across the retail portfolio, we are investing in our assets to ensure they reflect the way people shop today. The refurbishment of Meadowhall will reposition the centre to appeal to premium and lifestyle retailers as well as a broader range of customers. We are very excited about the future for Meadowhall and the experience this investment will create for both our customers and retailers."
Part of the shopping centre has already been refurbished and has welcomed new retailers The White Company, White Stuff and Jigsaw.
Meadowhall first opened with 284 shops, it now has 310 shops and has seen around 610 million people visit since it opened.
