Morrisons has begun a consultation regarding a “simplified management structure” at its Bradford head office. The supermarket added that it would be offering voluntary redundancy and alternative store positions.

Chief executive David Potts said the business had made "tough but necessary decisions" and added that the company will be focussing on its front-line customer service by hiring 5,000 extra store staff.

“We are focusing on the things that matter to our customers. That means having more of our staff in stores, improving product availability and helping customers at our checkouts. We believe our customers and our staff will appreciate the improvements,” said Mr Potts.
