From February three of Motorola’s products will be re-entering the Chinese smartphone market it has been announced. This came about as China’s Lenovo obtained Motorola Mobility from Google in October 2014.
The Moto X, new Moto X Pro and new Moto G will be up against popular international brands such as Apple and Samsung as well as local manufacturers such as Xiaomi and Huawei, however, no pricing has been announced yet.
"One thing a lot of people have forgotten is that Motorola used to have a 40% share of China's smartphone market," Bryan Ma of research firm IDC told the BBC.
"So there may be a residual brand value there they might be able to capitalise on."
