Following the launch of its new luxury Solarin smartphone, Israeli startup Sirin Labs has launched its first flagship store in London’s Mayfair.

The Solarin is a 5.5-inch Android smartphone, costing £9,500. The high price tag is due in part to its innovative, military-grade security and privacy measures. These include a switch at the back that flips it into a cybersecure mode, allowing only outgoing voice calls and securely encrypted messaging.

Tal Cohen, Sirin Labs chief executive and co-founder, said: “Sirin Labs don’t follow the rules. We ask why and question what our customers really want. They told us they want to get under the skin of Solarin, to understand what it means for them. They want privacy, dedicated one-to-one service and a calm space to take their time. This is why we haven’t followed convention in the design and realisation of our Bruton Place store.”

The flagship store is based in Bruton Place and features five interactive plinths standing in place of the customary display units, each of which takes customers on an "experiential journey" to learn more about the phone.
