Clothing chain Next is expected to report higher profits than Marks & Spencer for the first time when it delivers its annual results later this week.

Next was founded in 1982 by George Davies, who is also known for George at Asda and Per Una at M&S.

In its January trading statement, Next announced a series of special dividends to shareholders as a result of its rising profits and share prices.
