It has been reported that the UK’s largest mobile phone operator, EE has seen a drop of 1.1% in its operating revenue to £1.469 billion in the first quarter ahead of a takeover from BT, which will purchase the entire shares from Orange and Deutsche Telekom. This will happen when the £12.5 billion deal receives regulatory approval.

EE has 31 million customers, 9.3 million of those customers are on 4G and the company plans to reach its goal of 14 million 4G customers by the end of 2015.

According to EE boss Olaf Swantee, both EE and BT customers will benefit from the takeover, he said: "Customers will be able to get better deals because when they can buy four products, instead of one or two, from the same company they will get significantly better deals," adding that EE had employed 1,000 more call centre staff in the UK in the first quarter of the year, in an effort to improve customer service.
