The outgoing chief executive of jewellery brand Pandora, Allan Leighton, is due to receive 34.3 million Danish kroner (£3.4 million) when he steps down from the company next month.
The former Asda executive is widely expected to be announced as the new chairman of the Co-operative Group in the next few weeks.
The payout is thought to be three times the amount of Mr Leighton’s annual salary and comes after a two-year stint at Pandora, where he was credited with turning around the business’ fortunes.
