It has been announced that Primark is to open a new store at York’s Monks Cross Shopping Park which will cover 57,600 square foot and employ 222 staff.
The three units that Primark are taking over were occupied by Laura Ashley, Sports Direct and Marks & Spencer, however Laura Ashley and Sports Direct will be moving to new units at the shopping park.
Monks Cross Shopping’s centre manager, Katherine Sharp said "Monks Cross Shopping has worked tirelessly with Primark on continued negotiations over the past two years and is delighted we can now begin the works to realise the ambition of bringing the much-anticipated retailer to Monks Cross.” In response, a spokesperson for Primark added “We look forward to opening a store at Monks Cross Shopping providing our customers with amazing fashion at amazing prices.”
The shopping park has also announced that footwear retailer Clarks will be opening a new store later on this month.
