A blogger and model was told by a recruitment company that she should take her braids out if she wanted to get a job.

Simone Powderly was scheduled to attend an interview for a high-end brand through recruitment agency Elite Associates but was asked to take her hair out of braids for it despite having already passed a group assessment.

Ms Powderly commented: “I couldn’t decide what to do; if I took them out then I wasn’t standing up for equal rights and basically saying it’s OK to discriminate against me.”

Elite Associates said that it was “looking into” the matter.
