Ryanair says it hopes to offer flights between Europe and the US in the next five years. Destinations will include New York, Boston, Chicago and Miami from London Stansted, Dublin and Berlin in Europe.
The Irish airline currently depends on flying full planes short distances, however, transatlantic flights are considerably more lucrative.
Ryanair will need new long-distance planes and are believed to be currently talking to plane manufacturers about purchasing long-haul aircraft, but said it couldn't comment further on this.
