Primark has announced that compared to the same time last year it anticipates first half sales to be 16% in front due to an 11% rise in retail selling space.
With an increased selling space of 0.5 million square feet since 28 February 2014, Primark now trade from 10.7 million square feet with 287 stores. The fashion chain also opened 10 new stores and relocated its Northampton branch to larger premises. Within Europe they opened three stores in Germany and four in the Netherlands.
In a statement Primark owner Associated British Foods said “Total like-for-like sales growth for the group was held back by the unseasonably warm weather in the autumn across northern Europe and the impact, on existing stores, of new store openings in the Netherlands and Germany. However, total sales in northern continental Europe were well ahead of last year.”
