Sales at British luxury fashion brand Burberry increased in the second half of the year, thanks in part to its UK-made heritage trench coats and scarves.

Figures show that total sales increased 10% to £1.4 billion in the six months to the end of March, as the US and Europe performed well which helped balance out the decrease in sales in Hong Kong.

The company also reported that strong exchange rates helped and if the rates remain the same its full-year profit will increase by about £50 million.

Chief executive of Burberry, Christopher Bailey said “new products had helped to boost sales,” adding "We anticipate external challenges will continue in the current year, but remain confident in our long-term strategy to build the Burberry brand and business globally."

The success continues for Burberry as they opened seven new stores in the half-year, which included flagship stores in Los Angeles and Osaka in Japan.
