Korean firm Samsung has announced that its highly anticipated smartwatch, will be on sale from September 25th in a global first beating Apple, Microsoft and Google.

Unveiled at the consumer tech show in Berlin, the colour screen watch called the Galaxy Gear will show alerts, make voice calls and run apps. It will cost approximately £192 ($300) but will only be compatible with Samsung’s Galaxy Android devices.

The Galaxy Gear features a 4cm LED display, a 1.9 magapixel camera, a speaker/microphone and 4GB of storage. It is linked to the user’s phone to enable them to answer and make phonecalls without having to use the phone.
