The British fashion designer, Paul Smith, has promoted his Head of Men’s Design Simon Homes as his first Creative Director.
Simon Homes, who has been with the business since 2004, will be responsible for all ready-to-wear, footwear and accessories collections, and will also oversee the Paul Smith brand.
Paul Smith will still have a 60% stake in the business with the other 40% held by Japanese licensee Itochu, and explained that the move did not mean that he was ready to retire yet.
He said: "I’m not going anywhere. Simon’s appointment is about a new energy within the company, really. That’s the idea. We’re good mates, we get on. It’s an acknowledgement from me to say thank you for his hard work and good energy."
He added: "Basically, Simon’s appointment allows me to do lots of fun things — as well as my day job."
