It has been reported that Sports Direct has purchased an upmarket west London gym.
The retailer already owns 30 gyms outside of London, however the new Printworks Health Club & Spa based in Olympia will have a sauna, beauty spa and a 20 metre swimming pool.
Mike Ashley who leads the company pledged to “revolutionise the market” by opening as many as 200 cut-price gyms that charge just £5 a month.
Starting in 2014 with the purchase of the LA Fitness chain, Sports Direct has now opened three more stores with gyms attached in Keighley – West Yorkshire, Merseyside, Aintree and St Helens.
The company who is due to release its half-year trading figures this week, has had a successful year already; as in September it bought a 19% stake in Findel, the online specialist and in October helped retailer Direct Golf out of administration.
