The chief executive of Sports Direct, Dave Forsey, has stepped up his row with sportswear giant Adidas by labelling Adidas’s restrictions on the supply of its replica football kits over in-store presentation as “anti-competitive”.

It is understood that Dave Forsey has also reported Adidas to the Competition and Markets authorities after Adidas held back its supply of Chelsea replica shirts as well as World Cup kits and the official ball.

Forsey said that Adidas’s approach could threaten Sports Direct from making a bid for the footwear retailer Office as it would cut supply of its footwear to the chain.

Forsey’s comments come just a few days after Adidas boss Herbert Hainer offered an olive branch to Sports Direct. Hainer said that he would still be keen to work with the retailer and and was planning to visit its new Oxford Street flagship with its head of buying.
