Starbucks has requested its customers not to bring guns into its outlets, although it has stopped short of an outright ban.

The company said that the weapons “should not be part of the Starbucks experience”.
The move comes after the company won support from the pro-gun lobby, with members holding a Starbucks Appreciation Day.

However, chief executive Howard Schultz said in an open letter that such demonstrations “"have made our customers uncomfortable”.

However, he added that customers who chose to ignore the request would still be served.
