Superdry owner Supergroup has been left facing a shareholder rebellion over remuneration for directors, after Pensions & Investment Research Consultants (Pirc) said that the performance conditions of the long-term incentive plan were “not considered sufficiently challenging”.

Another point of contention was the bonus paid out to the firm’s chief operating officer Susanne Given.

A Supergroup spokesman said: “In order to recruit as such high quality a candidate as Susanne, at a challenging time for the business, she had to be incentivised.”
