Tesco has entered into an agreement with Indian conglomerate Tata to open a chain of 12 shops in the country.

The move follows years of negotiation with the Indian government, which eventually granted Tesco the first approval to open in India in a 50% partnership with Tata’s Star Bazaar brand.

The stores will offer range of grocery, personal and home care, home and kitchen, and fashion and accessories products.
