Danish homeware, accessories and toys retailer Tiger has reported a growth in UK like-for-like sales of 4.36% for 2013. Total UK turnover rose 45% to £ 23.3 million and pre-tax profits also soared 63% to £ 2.98 million.

The company, which was founded in Denmark in 1995 also opened 6 new stores in the UK last year, bringing its total to 24. New openings consolidated the company’s strong focus on the South East of the country and this looks set to continue in 2014, with further stores scheduled to open in Richmond, Canterbury and St. Albans.

Tiger UK managing director, Philip Bier said: “ We are satisfied with our trading results for 2013, which demonstrate that our profits are increasing at faster rate than our expansion. Tiger will be expanding rapidly throughout 2014, with new stores opening in urban affluent and fashionable high streets and shopping centres throughout London and the South East.“
