Supermarket giant Sainsbury’s has announced today the launch of its TU website, TUclothing.sainsburys.co.uk which it has been testing for the last year, where customers will be able to purchase kidswear, womenswear and menswear offering services such as click-and-collect, standard delivery and next-day delivery. Items can be collected from 710 stores and 112 convenience stores.
Only a selection of the TU clothing is held in around 400 stores, however the entire range is available in 160 stores.
With the supermarkets design team expanding in size, they are aiming to bring its clothing in line with catwalk fashions, which will put the supermarket in competition with Tesco’s clothing range F&F and Asda clothing range George.
Robbie Feather, Sainsbury’s director of online said: “Customers have increasingly been looking to buy Tu online and we have seen a really positive reaction to the new site from the selection of postcodes that have had access to it over the past few months. We’re already seeing particularly strong online sales of dresses and kidswear and look forward to customers’ reaction to the new site.
“This launch is in line with our mission to give customers access to our products and services whenever and wherever they want and will significantly increase the reach of our already successful Tu brand.”
Kantar Worldpanel revealed that Sainsbury’s is the 10th largest by value, 7th by volume and 5th largest in kidswear by volume and 7th by value with T-shirts starting at £2.
