The total amount of jobless people in the UK for the April to June period rose 25,000 from the previous quarter, according to the latest figures from the Office for National Statistics released this morning.

The unemployment rate for April to June 2015 was 5.6%, slightly higher than for January to March 2015 but still down from 6.3% on last year.

ONS statistician David Freeman said: "This is now the second consecutive time we've reported fewer people in work on the quarter.

"While it's too early to conclude that the jobs market is levelling off, these figures certainly strengthen that possibility. Growth in pay, however, remains solid."
