Victoria Beckham has been named as Britain’s top entrepreneur based on the turnover and rate of job creation at the former Spice Girl’s fashion label.

Management Today’s list of Britain’s 100 most successful entrepreneurs of 2014 also includes Amit and Meeta Patel of London-based pharmaceutical company Auden McKenzie, Mahmud Kamani of online fashion site Boohoo.com, in third place and Julian Dunkerton of clothing chain SuperGroup in fourth. It includes 14 women, up from 11 when the rankings were last published in 2011.

Mrs Beckham started her fashion label five years ago and recently opened a 6,000 sq ft boutique on Dover Street in Mayfair. It has grown from a three-person team to 100 people and generates a turnover of £30 million.
