WHSmith has reported that its likes-for-likes sales have fallen across its high street and travel stores.

The company’s like-for-likes fell 4% in the 10 weeks to November 1st, while total sales dropped 3%.

Although the rate of decline at its high street stores remained steady at 6 per cent, WH Smith said it will continue to keep an eye on its costs and it was making sure that progress was improving the division’s margins.

The retailer, which last month reported a 6 per cent rise in annual profits to £108 million, added: “Whilst the current climate continues to be uncertain, we remain a resilient buisness and are well positioned for continued profitable growth both in the UK and internationally.”
