Bookmaker chain William Hill has said that it will close 109 shops this year as a result of the increase on duty for fixed-odds betting machines from 20% to 25%. The move will jeopardise approximately 430 jobs.
William Hill said the decision to shut stores was "disappointing" but the duty increase made the action necessary.
